Bridge: Pakistan’s nightmare trip concludes

KARACHI:

Pakistan crashed out of the Bermuda Bowl World Bridge Team Championships in Veldhoven yesterday after losing 18 out of the 21 matches in the tournament’s first round.

In their final outings, the team lost to hosts Netherlands 25-3 before losing to Israel 21-9. Pakistan only managed wins against Canada, Singapore and Australia in the league matches.

They earned 226 Victory Points (VPs), well below the 340 VPs required to qualify for the knock-out stage and finished a lowly 21st place in the 22-team tournament.

Italy finished first ahead of Netherlands and the US at the Bermuda Bowl.
