Tribal Court: Jirga held to settle karo kari case

SUKKUR: A two-year-old karo kari dispute between Nazir Lashari and his uncle Abdul Ghafoor Lashari was sorted through a jirga in the Chakar Behrani village near Thul. It was decided that Nazir Lashari was a karo and would have to pay his uncles Rs370,000. He paid Rs50,000 immediately and said that the rest would be paid in three installments. The jirga was led by village elder Ali Mohammad Lashari on Saturday, October 22. Abdul Ghafoor Lashari claims that he had to divorce his wife because of her relationship with his nephew. He had been threatening Nazir Lashari to discuss the issue in front of a jirga or face the consequences.
