Dengue Defences: Union council committees take charge

Additional district collector said that it was the council’s duty to help create awareness regarding the disease.

VEHARI: Additional district collector Chaudhary Tariq Bashir said that committees would be constituted at the union council (UC) level to curb the dengue virus.  Addressing a meeting held at the district coordination office (DCO) on Friday, Bashir said that it was the council’s duty to help create awareness regarding the disease and to push the masses to take precautionary measures against the virus. Director Dr Shahid Saleem said that 4,195 old tyres had been destroyed in this regard and 101 beds were being allocated for dengue patients in different hospitals of the Vehari district. Executive district officer (EDO) Health Dr Muhammad Afzal Saqib, EDO Agriculture Shahzad Sabir, EDO Education Muhammad Altaf Saqib and other officials were also present on the occasion.
