Medical Trauma: Women more likely to die of diabetes

More than 10 per cent of Pakistanis suffer from diabetes, said the director of Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology at Dow University of Health Sciences, Prof. Zaman Shaikh. “Women are more vulnerable to it,” he said. “A considerably high number of women have died because of renal failure which is often caused by diabetes.” He added that according to a report published in the International Diabetes Federation, it was poverty, lack of education and awareness which created problems for the women.
