KARACHI:

In an attempt to meet the growing demand for business process outsourcing, Sybrid (Pvt) Ltd plans to establish a modern contact centre in the federal capital to attract more foreign investment and create employement.

In a recent development, Telenor Pakistan subcontracted its customer base unit –an attempt to win the customer experience battle in the hyper competitive market of Pakistan – to Sybrid, a technology services and business outsourcing company that serves banking, IT managed services, healthcare and telecoms.

This partnership, the company’s biggest launch till date, will immediately create 100 jobs for customer service officers and add 400 more jobs in the next six months, Anwar Kazi, Chief Operating Officer of Sybrid said.

The collaboration will lead to an investment of Rs1 billion to build the supporting infrastructure– a modern contact centre –in Islamabad, Kazi said.

Pakistan is a growing market for telecom companies, Telenor’s Corporate Communication Manager Affan Haider said. He added that their numbers of subscribers – the company claims to have over 27 million subscribers – has increased rapidly prompting them to diversify their customer base geographically.

“Business process outsourcing industry leaders are not just selling commodities but also providing integrated and bundled services and systems,” said Iqbal Ali Lakhani, Chairman, Lakson Group and CEO Sybrid. “And that is what we intend to provide Telenor,” he added.

Lakhani said Sybrid is equipped to enhance service processes and technical capabilities of its partners. “This will enable organisations to enjoy sustained cost and efficiency advantages,” he added.

Kazi said the company plans to set up a big outsourcing centre in Islamabad because they see a growing market for their services.

Referring to the survey reports at Pakistan Software Export Board’s website, he further said, reputable research agencies have always ranked Pakistan among
top five countries for business process outsourcing, reflecting the country’s potential in the IT and IT-enabled service businesses.

Sybrid is currently working on many projects in healthcare sector with the US, he added. If the government can help the industry setup IT Parks, provide subsidised electricity and create independent boards to regulate the industry, they can attract more investments and add more jobs to the economy, Kazi said.

Sybrid is a part of the Lakson Group of companies, the conglomerate of which Century Publications, the publisher of The Express Tribune is also a part.
