The death of Muammar Qaddafi (II)

Letter October 21, 2011
He had a charismatic personality and had the guts to stand up to western powers.

ISLAMABAD: The end of Colonel Muammar Qaddafi, the last flag-bearer of Arab nationalism, was tragic, especially the circumstances leading to his death since it appears that he was captured alive but killed soon after by his captors. His death will surely mean the end of liberalism in North Africa.

Of course, many of your readers will disagree with me when I say that he was courageous and defiant till the end. Apart from the fact that he ruled his country for 42 years, he had a charismatic personality and had the guts to stand up to western powers. It’s a shame that the region has lost someone who had it in him to defy those who call the shots in today’s world.
