LAHORE:
If anyone is a true Pakistani patriot they would not completely agree with the views present in Raza Rumi’s article. Enemies cannot become friends overnight. If we look at Pakistan-India relations since 1947 we see that India has had malicious intentions towards us. It is shameful that we are still extending our hand for friendship. A few days back it was reported that the US and India are pressurising the EU to stop Pakistan from entering into a trade agreement with them. This is the real face of the Indians. We don't want friends who are constantly conspiring against us. Peace talks are just a waste of time. I’m not saying we should fight a war with India but that we should adopt a neutral stance with them.

i think my perspective about the indo-pak relation is correct and if its wrong in your opinion you should write some logic.indias need to address our concerns. friendship cant be one sided. i am not against establishing peace in the region but india needs to be humble with us.

Ground reality is that people on the both side want peace but the politicians do not want this. simple logic. Approach our elected MNAs and convey your concerns to them about peace initiatives. Unfortunately no one in Pakistan does this. Our Elected representative go on missing after the election. This is our mistake and silence of the majority kills the peace talks.

This is typical Pakistani mindset, which portrays Indian and those advocating peace as demons and enemies; thanks to the hate included into our curriculum. I advise you read Kuldip Nayer column published in Dawn and Express, July 16 to get a broader outlook of this issue. This war rhetoric and mistrust has resulted into chronic poverty for over a billon people in sub-continent and i am not sure whose agenda our India hating friends are advancing?

Franly speaking this has become our national mindset that we blame anyone as "traitor" or not true friend of Pakistan, if he talks sense and advises rational self interest. For 63 years, excessess have been committed by both the sides and we should move on now leaving this hatred behind. Today our problems are not enmanating from India and in order to have proper focus on those real problems, we need to have peace with India which would reduce our defense budget also.
I on my part agree with Razza Rumi completely

And peace with India will be a solution for the ills in the relationships between the two countries. Raza Rumi has not written against any country. He just expressed what a true and sane human being should do. We cannot take his views against his country as there is no evidence. He advocates peace as the greatest human value. There are a number of hawks-both ordinary and in the power corrider- in both the countries. The sensitive to peace and human values must fight for it.
And patriotism to most of the pacifists is merely a wish to kill and be killed. We do not want such sham patriotism.
