ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has withheld a summary for the appointment of the prosecutor general of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) after Admiral (retd) Fasih Bukhari assumed charge as chief of the anti-corruption watchdog body. “We had prepared a summary for the appointment of the new prosecutor general. It has now been withheld after Bukhari was appointed the chairman,” a senior official of the law ministry said. He said the law ministry had drafted a summary in which Chaudhry Ramzan was recommended for the post of prosecutor general. “This summary was drafted in a manner that we were going to suggest the president to appoint the prosecutor general as the top slot of the bureau was also lying vacant,” he maintained. The official said since NAB chairman has been appointed, he would be consulted in this regard. “It is chairman NAB who will initiate the summary now for appointment of prosecutor general. The summary would be routed through law ministry but the main authority now lies with the head of Bureau,” the official explained.
