LAHORE: The Punjab chapter of the District Management Group (DMG) Association has decided to write a letter to the chief minister requesting him to take action against the leading officer bearers of the Provincial Management Service (PMS) Association for using abusive language against the DMG officers including the chief secretary.

The DMG Association is angry that the PMS Association passed offensive remarks against Nasir Mehmood Khosa, the chief secretary, and other DMG officers in its annual meeting held last Saturday.

The DMG officers would hold a protest demonstration against the PMSA on July 15, states a press release issued on July 13.

In a meeting, chaired by Umer Rasool, the DMG Association president, the participants expressed their resentment over the alleged language used by PMS officers. “The office of the chief secretary has always maintained a neutral stance and they (the PMS officers) had no reason to criticise it,” they held.

Rasool directed the participants to keep attending their offices to avoid any inconvenience to the general public during the protest.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Socrat Aman Rana, the DMG Association general secretary, said that they have drafted a letter addressed to the CM and asked him to take disciplinary action against the PMS officers.

“The conduct of PMS officers during their annual meeting was in violation of the Estacode and the Rules for Associations,” he said. He said that all legal demands of the PMS regarding promotion and other service-related issues had already been accepted. He alleged that the protesting PMS officers were now trying to sabotage the provincial administration through unjustified strikes.

The DMG Association through the letter will also seek the CM’s permission to respond to the allegations filed by the PMS officers, he said.

The acrimony between the DMG and the PMS officers is a first in the history of the province, a DMG official seeking anonymity said. The DMG has been calling the shots since Pakistan’s creation without.
