MULTAN: Lady health volunteers (LHVs) protested against being denied their salaries for over four months on Monday afternoon. Two workers collapsed during the protest.

A large number of LHVs gathered at Katchery Chowk and shouted slogans against the government for withholding their salaries. The protests were led by Punjab Health Association president Rukhsana Anwar. “We have been promised that our salaries will be paid but these promises have been made before,” she said. The protesters said that they had been forced to take to the streets and implored the government to address their concerns. During the rally, two protesters collapsed from the heat and were sent to the hospital. Hospital officials said that they were out of danger and the protesters dispersed when the district coordination officer assured them that their problem would be resolved in a week.
