Yet another faulty result was announced by Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (RBISE) on Monday, as a large number of flustered students approached the board’s office for corrections. The result was announced for the examinations of Higher Secondary School Certificate (part 1).
“I did not attempt all of the Mathematics exams, but I obtained 47 marks out of 27 in the annual examination of 2011,” said Hassan Farooque, a student.

Vice President of Punjab College of Information Technology, Ali Naqvi, told The Express Tribune that RBISE result is faulty and misleading. “The board delayed the result four times [23 September, 5 October and 15 October and now 17 October] just to remove the anomalies but to no avail. Hundreds of students are pointing out blunders committed by RBISE in their results,” he said.
“One of my average students obtained 98 out of 100 in English, that cannot possibly happen,” he said, adding that in the college he was the only student who is happy with RBISE result.
An official of the RBISE revealed that the tough task of marking was also assigned to some low ranked officials of RBISE. “This was done when the marking inaccuracies made by the modern method could not be removed,” he said.
Hundreds of students in Rawalpindi also took to the streets on Monday against repeated failures of RBISE officials in issuing “correct results of different classes”. They said the board officials were not addressing their concerns.
Arslan, a 9-grader, told The Express Tribune that he did not appear in the ‘Ethics’ paper but he was declared a successful candidate in the subject. “But the board failed me in all the other papers in which I was considered to be really good by my school teachers,” he said.
Dr Sultan, Principal of Buckingham School Satellite Town, told The Express Tribune that the board officials were illiterate as far as the use of modern technology is concerned.
He also demanded expulsion of RBISE chairman.
During the protest, the students of his school engaged in a scuffle and got injured as a result.
An eyewitness told The Express Tribune that a male student requested a female student for her cell number due to which other students started beating him. The situation got awry after the students divided into two groups and started thrashing each other.
However, Dr Sultan succeeded to control the situation. He also warned the RBISE officials that he would foil all of their conspiracies to divide their students.
The spokesperson of RBISE, Arslan Cheema, told The Express Tribune that Dr Sultan was misleading the students and the RBISE had resolved the issue of incorrect results.
“Bubble system of marking is the main reason for this inaccuracy,” he said. The computer did not read the bubble system of marking for the objective part of the paper, he said.
Another official of the board informed that RBISE has no software for
the bubble system marking due to which the task of marking of the papers was affected.
