By-election: Schedule for Kohistan-1 announced

The polling will take place on November 24. The seat in PK-61 fell vacant after Maulvi Obaidullah died last week.

DASU: Kohistan Assistant Election Commissioner Deen Muhammad announced the schedule for PK-61 Kohistan-1’s by-election on Sunday. The polling will take place on November 24. The seat in PK-61 fell vacant after Maulvi Obaidullah died last week. Obaidullah was elected as an independent MPA during the general elections in 2008, but he later joined the ruling Awami National Party. According to Muhammad, the nomination papers will be accepted on October 19 and 20 and the scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on the October 21. The appeals would be filed on October 24 and October 25, while the decision on the appeals will be announced on October 26. He said that the final list of candidates would be displayed on October 27, which would also be the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.
