Karo-kari: Police searches for men who held jirga

Registered a case against Syed Anwar Ali Shah and seven others for holding a jirga, declaring a couple “karo and kari”

UBAURO: The police registered a case against Syed Anwar Ali Shah and seven others for holding a jirga and declaring a couple “karo and kari”.  The men were also charged with holding the girl captive. The jirga was held in Mandhu Mahar village near Ubauro, in Ghotki district. According to the police the parents of 17-year-old Rozina, alias Rose, and Altaf were also fined Rs130,000. The jirga members took Rozina in their custody and kept her at an unknown place. Other people mentioned in the FIR include Raees Lal Bux and Wadero Nihal Mahar and the police are searching for others. The police suspect that Rozina might have been killed.
