
City police on Sunday constituted a committee to inquire into an incident of a body going missing from the mortuary of Mayo Hospital. A policeman is accused of selling the body to a medical school.
The committee including several senior officers of Lahore police would submit a report on the matter to the Capital City Police Officer Ahmed Raza Tahir in a couple of days.
The body of an unidentified man had been found dead in Shafiqabad area and later deposited at the mortuary by Sub Inspector Zulfiqar on October 5. However, the body later went missing. On initial inquiry by the police, it was discovered that the hospital mortuary had no record of receiving the body of a man found dead in Shafiqabad area on October 5. The committee has been directed to investigate allegation that Sub Inspector Zulfiqar sold the body to a medical school in the city for use in anatomy classes.
