BAHAWALPUR: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) officials have detected incidents of electricity theft in the Bahawalpur district commissioner’s office as well as among the anti-corruption offices.

According to Wapda officials, the Wapda meter which was supplying electricity to the DCO and Anti Corruption offices was damaged during the monsoon season. Only 26 to 700 unit bills were noted for the offices, despite the constant use of air conditioners. “The average units for these offices are usually 30,000 to 35,000 but now it is only 700. They were issued directives to have the meters replaced but they didn’t bother,” a Wapda spokesperson said.
