Major reshuffle in bureaucracy notified

ED notified the appointment and transfers and promotion of bureaucrats in different ministries and departments.

The Establishment Division (ED) has notified the appointment and transfers and promotion of bureaucrats in different ministries and departments.


According to the notifications issued by the ED, Rana Asad Amin has been appointed as Special Secretary at the Finance Division. Amin, a BS-22 officer of Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service, is currently serving as Additional Auditor General-2 in the Office of the Auditor General of Pakistan.

Dr Wasim Kausar, a BS-22 officer of Police Service of Pakistan (PSP), will retire on January 7, 2012 on attaining the age of superannuation. He is currently posted as Director General at National Police Bureau.

Hamayun Raza Shafi, a BS-21 officer of PSP group, currently Officer On Special Duty in the ED, has been promoted to BS-22. Shafi will be posted as the Managing Director of National Police Foundation.

Frontier Constabulary (FC) Commandant Muhammad Akbar Khan Hoti, a BS-21 officer of PSP, has been appointed as provincial police officer Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), while Additional Inspector General Elite Police, Abdul Majeed Khan K-P, a BS-21 officer of PSP, has been posted as FC Commandant in Hoti’s place.

Muhammad Zahir Raja, a BS-19 officer of District Management Group, presently working as Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, is transferred as Additional Director, Civil Service Academy, Lahore.

A BS-18 officer of the Office Management Group, Naseem Ahmed Khan, has been transferred to the Establishment Division as Section Officer (SO). Earlier Khan was serving as SO at the Economic Affairs Division.

The ED has reinstated Sialkot’s district police officer (DPO) Waqar Ahmed Chohan. According to sources, he might assume the charge of Senior Superintendent of Islamabad Police.

Earlier the Lahore High Court overturned his suspension orders.  Chohan, a BS-19 police official, was sentenced by an anti-terrorist court in the lynching case of two brothers. This will be his first posting after the Sialkot incident.

In another notification, Dr Iftikhar Ahmad has been directed to take over temporary charge as chairperson of Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) till a new chairperson is appointed. He is currently serving as the Director General of the National Agriculture Research Council.

Deputy Secretary Ministry of Technical and Professional Training Ahmad Raza Sarwar, a BS-19 officer from the District Management Group, has been transferred to the National Disaster Management Authority, the notification said.
