FAISALABAD: The Punjab government has set wheat production target at 19.2 million tons this year as the crop is expected to be cultivated over 16.8 million acres. The provincial agriculture department, while advising growers to complete sowing by November 15, asked them to use 50 kgs of seed per acre and make anti-fungus spray on the seeds before sowing, says a statement. The department also directed all its officers and staff to create awareness among growers of the benefits of latest agricultural technologies. A spokesman for the agriculture department told The Express Tribune on Friday that application of water to the crop at the right time and balanced use of fertiliser were a must to achieve maximum yield.
