Fatal Collision: Two die after speeding bus rams into taxi

Two men were burnt to death when the taxi cab they were travelling in caught fire after being hit by a speeding bus early on Thursday morning. 


After extinguishing the fire, which took 20 minutes, the staff of Rescue 1122 had to cut the cab to retrieve the charred bodies. The incident happened around 5:00am.

The bodies of Muhammad Ashfaq, the driver, and the unknown passenger were shifted to DHQ.

Civil Lines police registered a criminal case against the bus driver Arshad Mehmood, who managed to escape from the scene.

Tanveer Akhtar, the complainant, informed the police that he boarded the cab to get dropped at Kachehri Chowk. “An unknown passenger, who wanted to go to Adiala Road, sat inside the car with us,” he said. “The incident happened near Kachehri Chowk,” The complainant said they saw the rashly driven IIUI bus hit the cab. The car caught fire instantly. “We ran to the car but the two were already dead,” he said.
