Boxing: Haye confirms retirement

LONDON: Former heavyweight champion David Haye has confirmed his retirement from boxing. Haye celebrated his 31st birthday yesterday and had always maintained it would be the day he bowed out of the sport. But his defeat to Wladimir Klitschko earlier in the year prompted some to suggest he would extend his career. However, the British Boxing Board of Control confirmed Haye had sent an email stating he had no desire to renew his license.  Haye had earlier confirmed talks took place with regard to a fight with either of the Klitschkos, but walked away from the table without a deal being struck.
