ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday felicitated Interior Minister Rehman Malik on receiving an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his “matchless services to the country in the war on terror and particularly in restoring peace to citizens of Karachi.”

The degree was awarded to Malik at a special convocation held yesterday at the Governor House.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said that President Zardari described the honorary award as “well-deserved recognition.”

“It is recognition by the academia (University of Karachi) of the courage and steadfastness of Rehman Malik in fighting militancy as well as of his long and tortuous journey in pursuit of high achievements,” Zardari said.

He said any alma mater would be proud of such achievements by its students. The President also wished Malik greater success and glory in the future.
