GILGIT: The interior ministry has placed a ban on at least three religious outfits operating in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), officials said on Tuesday.

“A notification from the Ministry of Interior has been issued to this effect,” said the sources. The banned organisations include Sabeel Organization, Tanzeem Nau Jawanaan-e-Ahle-Sunnat and Shia Talba Action Committee (STAC).

According to the sources, the decision was taken in light of reports received by the ministry from a number of G-B intelligence teams, highlighting their role in a number of incidents of sectarian violence in the region.
