Refresher Course: Judges should be informed of new laws: SC judge

Courage and confidence comes from attaining knowledge and then practising it

Express October 11, 2011

Judges should keep themselves apprised of all new laws to perform better. Courage and confidence comes from attaining knowledge and then practising it — it has to be learnt and earned, said Supreme Court Judge Justice Ghulam Rabbani, stated a press release issued by Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).

He was expressing his views in the inaugural ceremony of a one-week refresher course on the “Orientation of New Laws” for additional district and sessions judges here at the FJA on Monday.

He said we can not underestimate the importance of continuing education, training and specialised knowledge for judicial officers, prosecutors and court supporting staff. He said we can not achieve any meaningful application of law without acknowledging the fact that specific problems require particular knowledge.

Twenty additional district and sessions judges are attending the refresher course.
