The state and militancy (II)

Yasir Qadeer July 11, 2010

ISLAMABAD: With reference to Asfandyar Khan’s article of July 9, it must be noted that Pakistan’s democracy is evolving. It may be true that in Swat the politicians tried to strike a peace deal. However, when the local people demanded an operation, the army moved in but after a directive from the elected representatives. Gradually, our democratic setup will blossom, and things will improve.
