The actor has just joined the micro-blogging website and even though she’s only posted two messages so far, people are still excited about being able to interact with her.

Jewellery designer Sara Taseer Shoaib is behind the actor joining the website. She told The Express Tribune in an e-mail interview, “While doing a jewellery shoot with Meera she expressed her frustration at the way the media manipulates her statements. She asked me if there was a way she could be direct with the public. At this point I explained the power and potential of Twitter to her.”

Meera’s first message was to Shoaib, while the other was “Hi Pakistan, I’m so excited to be here”.

Shoaib says that Meera “is very excited and keen to get on Twitter but is hesitant about the technological aspect. Some IT people in my office are assisting her with setting up her account and will be taking her through the correct use of the site. I hope to be able to put it on her phone. All this may take some time as we have to schedule mutually convenient timings.”

Meera’s basic reason for joining the website is to counter the negative publicity she has received and the way her statements have been skewed. According to Shoaib, “Meera wants to be heard and get her point of view across without a third party filter. She feels the media has not been fair to her, and is frustrated that her point of view has not been clearly delivered to the public.”

As far as what Meera is saying in English language is understood by the people, I think she is speaking fine.

English is not the mother tounge of Meera, therefore, people should not expect from Meera that she will be speaking or writing Oxford English.

Since there is no bar now to be a graduate for contesting election, I am hopeful that in the next general election, Meera will be a powerful candidate of a political party.

She may become a member parliament. Keep your fingers cross.Recommend

I agree with Mr. Mateen’s point that speaking English should not be a big issue for Meera but speaking gently and wisely is a big issue for her.Recommend

I think meera bashing should now stop. It is painfully boring how people have nothing else to report or talk about except meera, about when she sleeps, drinks, eats, bathes, what she says, why she says it, what colour dress she was wearing. I completely agree with Mr Mateen that English is not her language. Her ;anguage is Punjabi and Urdu and she communicates in that language pretty well. Despite the fact that she is a bad actress, (Over whihc NO ONE bashes her…her professional talents), I would wholly support meera when she says she is being unfairly dealt with by the media. Meera has really joined Twitter to refreshen the so tense atmosphere prevailing in the country these days through her Anglish or Englush. Let us see how she interacts with her loving fans!

We must appreciate her courage to take such a bold decition.Recommend
