NICL scandal: Investigator concerned over court’s ‘silence’

LAHORE:

Chief investigator of the multi-billion National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam Zafar Qureshi has raised serious reservations against the trial court currently hearing the NICL scam case.

In a supplementary report submitted to the Supreme Court, Qureshi expressed concern over the trial court’s silence over the details of the obstacles and hindrances faced by him (Qureshi) in the investigations, which in turn benefitted accused Moonis Elahi.

In the report, available with The Express Tribune, Qureshi wrote: “During my transfer and suspension period, the cases registered at FIA Lahore were damaged by de-freezing the accounts illegally and destroying evidence.”
