Peshawar High Court Accused in VC kidnapping case wins bail

PESHAWAR:


The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Friday granted bail to an accused charged by the police for aiding the kidnappers of Vice Chancellor Islamia College University (ICU) Peshawar Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan.


After hearing arguments and evidences on record, Justice Fazle Haq Abbassi granted bail to accused Izhar Afzal on the surety bond of Rs500,000. Khan had been kidnapped by unidentified men at gunpoint outside his residence at Professor Colony, Peshawar University on September 7, 2010.

The university police had arrested Afzal on August 8 for his alleged connection with the kidnappers.

Earlier, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Peshawar had rejected Afzal’s bail application.
