Floods in Sindh: Parts of Badin still inundated

KARACHI: Areas of lower and central Sindh remain inundated as the government has failed to drain out floodwater from affected parts of the province.

Malkani Shareef of Badin district remains flooded. The residents are in dire need of daily commodities like food, medicines and clean drinking water.

Transport and electricity to the areas has also been cut off because of damaged infrastructure.

Low-lying areas of Badin, Sindh University Laar Campus, Police Headquarters and hundreds of villages are still flooded.

Water is slowly draining out from Jhadu, Nokot and Tando Jan Mohammad.

UN announces $17.6m for flood relief

The United Nations humanitarian fund has announced the allocation of $17.6 million to ensure that more than five million flood victims continue to receive relief.

The funds from the Central Emergency Response Fund will support the operations of UN agencies and the International Organization for Migration in the flood-hit areas.
