Festival: 2,500 years of Peshawar to be observed
Peshawar is the oldest living city in the region; exhibition is to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the city

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Directorate of Archaeology and Museums, in collaboration with K-P Tourism Corporation, will hold a festival to mark 2,500 years of Peshawar at Gor Khattri Archaelogical Complex in the last week of October. During the festival, an exhibition to showcase the history of coinage in Peshawar will be presented, where ancient coins from 600 BC, including Greek, Scythian, Kushan, Hindu Shahi and Mughal periods would be displayed. “Peshawar is the oldest living city in the region and the purpose of organising this exhibition and festival is to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the city,” said Minister for Archaeology and Museums Syed Aqil Shah. “We have several other projects in pipeline to highlight the rich archaeological legacy of K-P,” said Archaeology and Museums Secretary Syed Jamaluddin.
