Disputed Region: India should stop ‘atrocities’ in Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: The Special Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Affairs urged India on Thursday to stop atrocities in Kashmir in order to bring peace to the region.

“India should hold talks with Islamabad by engaging with freedom fighters to stop violence in occupied Kashmir,” committee members said.

Expressing concern over the silence of the international community on the Kashmir issue, the committee’s chairman Maulana Fazlur Rahman said that Indian Kashmir chief minister’s apology for atrocities was not enough, and demanded that he resign.

Indian Kashmir has acknowledged the rape of 1,400 women, but this was far from the real figure, the committee said.
