MULTAN:

A master’s degree holder went on a hunger strike after he failed to get a job for several months. According to eyewitnesses, Multan Pakistan Student Federation (PSF) secretary information Mazhar Abbas said that he had received a first division in his Matric, Bacherlors and Masters exams and was still unable to find a job.

“Nothing is based on merit here and everything rests on bribing someone. I have no money to bribe anyone for a job but I have an academic record to prove my capabilities.

That should be enough,” he said. Abbas went on hunger strike and set up a camp at Nawan Shehr Chowk in protest.

He said that he had given his file to the prime minister several times but he had not gotten any response. “I will continue the hunger strike until I die or they give me a job,” he said.

“This is the only way I can get the attention of the authorities. They don’t care about my qualifications but they will care if I embarrass them,” he said.
