In defence of Imran Khan

Letter October 02, 2011
I do hope I am proven wrong and that Imran Khan is the messiah the writer seems to think that he is.

LONDON:

This is with reference to Raoof Hasan’s article of September 30 titled “In defence of Imran Khan”. What the writer has said is all well and good. However, in the spirit of leadership and setting an example, why doesn’t Imran Khan make public all his financial accounts, tax receipts, and details of domestic and foreign assets?

As for the writer saying that the PPP government had capitulated before the Americas, surely even he should know that it is the military in Pakistan which is in charge of policy with the US. It was an army chief who aligned Pakistan with the US, and whenever substantive happens or is about to happen as far as bilateral ties of the two countries are concerned, it is General Kayani and Pasha who happen to be involved.

Talking of corruption and tax dodging, and NRO-pardoned politicians, why is the PTI chief silent on corruption in the military? I do hope I am proven wrong and that Imran Khan is the messiah the writer seems to think that he is. But in the meantime, nothing of what the writer has said is new.
