KARACHI: Pappu is a cute freckled face boy from the slums of Karachi. He likes to play dabbu and occasionally scares cats. He belongs to the underprivileged class of the mega city. Both of his parents work hard to make ends meet but fail miserably.

Pappu is an idea, representing all those kids who don’t get the chance to go to school and get proper education.

Founded by Ramish Safa, Muhammed Ansari and Nofal Khan, the Facebook page named “Pappu” is a small effort to help all such little pappus out there in our society. The venture seeks to create opportunities of good quality education for underprivileged children.

This bunch of enthusiastic social activists have so far produced notebooks, wrist bands, folders, hoodies and stickers revolving around the character Pappu. The money collected from the sales of these funky products is used in projects that help pappu go to school.

According to the Facebook page, Pappu has got around 19,000 supporters. The team calls out for more support because the goal they have set out to accomplish is not a piece of a cake.

Facebook page rating: Two thumbs way up for helping those who are easily ignored by everyone.
