LAHORE: PEPCO introduced a new meter system on Thursday, whereby a variable charge of electricity will apply at different times of the day.

Speaking to the media in Lahore, DG PEPCO Muhammad Khalid said that PEPCO has fixed a charge of Rs 7.14 per unit for the day and Rs 11.89 per unit for the night time.

Either the 6 to 10 pm or the 7 to 11 pm time slot will be considered night time for billing purposes, he said.

He also said that new meters called TODs will replace the old ones, and that the replacement process has already begun. The meters will take into account the variable charge of electricity to calculate the total bill.
