'Govt should not overrule supremacy of judiciary'

PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif on Thursday urged the government to be respectful of the courts and their verdicts, saying that the government should not assume the role of the superior courts itself.

Sharif was speaking to the media at the Lahore airport before his departure to London. He warned that there were some elements who were trying to make the judiciary’s supremacy a controversial issue and said that the government was trying to drag the judiciary into politics.

He said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was not an honest institution and that it was not established during his tenure. He said no one has the right to misuse public money.

When questioned about his party’s stance on the fake degrees issue, Sharif said that the PML-N stance on fake degrees is quite clear. He alleged that there were people within the government who support the ideology of the militants.

Malik Hameed Langraw | 14 years ago | Reply Mr. Nawaz Sharif always talks about the supremacy of rule and law but what was happen in his tenure, I think he forget all those things and presently what is happening in Punjab, his party men are mulling the rule and law. He should pay attention to that also. The second thing is that Supreme Court and High Courts are not solving the cases on that speed which is required. The cases on issues like rape, robbery & theft, injustice in society and fraud needs more attention of these justice providing institutions because if cases of these issues would be solved on time, people will come to know that these institutions are working.

I would suggest, he should focus on his main business as he has become so poor due to neglecting his business that he is not even in the tax net. Politics is something he should never had joined. May I say, all the conservatives should follow the suggested footsteps of Sharifs!
