Jhang district: Wheat to be cultivated over 650,000 acres

FAISALABAD: The agriculture department has set a target of 650,000 acres for cultivating wheat in Jhang district in the Rabi season.

Agriculture Extension Jhang District Officer Muhammad Yousuf said on Friday sugarcane crop would be cultivated over an area of 170,000 acres this year, gram on 130,000 acres, maize on 16,000 acres, pulses on 10,000 acres and oilseed on 15,000 acres. Cotton crop was cultivated over an area of 185,000 acres in the district this year.

He said the agriculture department had evolved a strategy to provide guidance and information for the growers so that they could achieve better production by adopting effective techniques to control pest attack.
