A Rangers’ personnel died and three others were injured when a vehicle in the security squad of the Chief Justice overturned near airport due to overspeeding on Friday afternoon. No report of the incident was registered in the Airport Police Station till the filing of this report.


Police said the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had reached the airport by the time the incident happened and the Rangers’ vehicle that had lagged behind was overspeeding to cover up. At a sharp turn near Flying Club located adjacent to the airport, the vehicle went out of the driver’s control and overturned.

Four rangers’ personnel sitting in the rear side of the Toyota Hilux suffured injuries and were shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences. Later, one of the injured, Aashiq Hussain, who was in critical condition, was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Rawalpindi where he died of his injuries.

Doctors said the other three personnel were not critical and were being treated at the Pims hospital.
