Jennifer Garner has looked back on a memorable six-week European holiday she took with her three children while her then-husband, Ben Affleck, was filming a Batman movie in London.

The actress shared the story during an appearance on Ina Garten's Happy Hour With Ina Garten podcast, recalling how she decided to take her children out of school for an extended trip while Affleck was working overseas.

"When my kids were really little, I went to Paris," Garner recalled. "Ben was shooting some Batman-ish movie in London and we went for six weeks. I took them out of school. It was the last time I really took kids out of school, but it was wonderful. It was incredible. It was so fun."

Garner explained that the family travelled between several European destinations during the trip, including Paris and Venice. The experience became particularly special because it allowed her to create lasting memories with her children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.

The 13 Going on 30 actress also credited Garten with recommending one of the highlights of their Paris visit: taking a boat ride along the River Seine.

"I've done it now, every time I go," Garner said, recalling how much the experience meant to her family. She added that photographs from the trip still remind her of the excitement on her children's faces.

Garner also revealed that she followed Garten's recommendations on a later visit to Paris with her eldest daughter, Violet, who speaks French and had been attending a programme in France. Unlike the earlier family holiday, this trip was just for the two of them.

"It was just the two of us. It was so special," she said.

Garner shares three children with Affleck, whom she married in June 2005. The former couple announced their separation in 2015 after a decade of marriage and finalised their divorce in 2018.

Despite their separation, the two have maintained a positive co-parenting relationship. Affleck recently spoke warmly about their family dynamic, expressing gratitude for Garner and the relationship their children share with their mother.

In a recent interview with Variety, the actor described the current period of his life as wonderful and praised the way he and Garner manage their parenting responsibilities.

Garner's recollections offer a glimpse into the family's life during Affleck's time portraying Batman, a role he played in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). The actress has continued to share occasional personal stories about motherhood, family life and her experiences in Hollywood.
