Russell Brand could face further criminal charges after police confirmed that two additional rape allegations against the comedian remain under investigation following his conviction in London.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that detectives are continuing inquiries into complaints made by two women. Brand, 51, has already been interviewed under caution in connection with the allegations, while investigators have submitted files to the Crown Prosecution Service for consideration.

A police spokesperson said the investigation remained ongoing, adding that detectives were maintaining close contact with prosecutors as further investigative work continued.

The latest developments follow Brand’s conviction at Southwark Crown Court on November 5. He was found guilty of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault involving four women. The offences took place between 2004 and 2009.

Details of the additional allegations had emerged during pre-trial hearings in March and May. One complaint reportedly concerns a woman who dated Brand when she was 16 and he was 30.

At the May hearing, Mr Justice Bennathan addressed the existence of two additional complainants. Prosecutor Riel Karmy-Jones KC confirmed that the prosecution would not seek to add further complainants to the trial.

One of the women, identified publicly by the pseudonym Alice, had previously spoken about her alleged experience during an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. She claimed Brand referred to her as "The Child" during their relationship and described feeling exploited by the experience.

Brand was first publicly accused of sexual misconduct in 2023 following investigations published by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4's Dispatches. He has consistently denied wrongdoing and maintained that his sexual relationships were consensual.

The latest complaints remain allegations, and no additional charges have been confirmed. Prosecutors are assessing the evidence submitted by police as the investigation continues.

Brand's existing convictions are separate from the two ongoing complaints, which could lead to further legal proceedings if prosecutors decide to bring charges.
