Groom goes viral for having to beat bride at Valorant before he can marry her

Chinese groom had to defeat his bride in Valorant before he could take her to their wedding ceremony

A groom in China has gone viral after being challenged to defeat his bride in Riot Games’ tactical shooter Valorant before he could take her to their wedding ceremony.

A video shared on Instagram shows the groom sitting down to play against his bride as part of the couple’s wedding celebrations.

The unusual challenge reportedly forms part of a Chinese wedding tradition in which the groom and his friends must complete a series of tasks prepared by the bride and her bridesmaids before they can proceed with the ceremony.

Rather than opting for more conventional wedding games, the couple incorporated Valorant into the celebrations, reportedly drawing on their shared interest in playing the game together.

The groom ultimately emerged victorious, completing the challenge and earning the right to collect his bride for the ceremony. The video has since circulated on social media, with the gaming competition attracting attention from viewers.

This is not the first time a couple in China has incorporated video games into their wedding celebrations. In 2023, another couple made headlines after organising a League of Legends competition for their wedding. The bride reportedly defeated her husband and his wedding party during the event.
