KARACHI:

The University of Karachi has constituted a three-member committee comprising representatives of the Supreme Court, Sindh High Court and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to conduct an impartial and transparent investigation into complaints regarding the second-year examination results and mark sheets of its affiliated law colleges.

The committee will hold detailed discussions with all relevant stakeholders, examine the matter thoroughly and scrutinise the available evidence and records before submitting a fact-based report to the university administration.

The inquiry will include meetings with affected students, teachers who evaluated the answer scripts and officials responsible for reviewing answer scripts following scrutiny applications. The committee members will also visit the examination department and hold discussions with the controller of examinations and other relevant officials.

According to details, some students had pointed out alleged discrepancies and errors in the announced results, claiming that they had passed their examinations but were declared unsuccessful in the issued mark sheets. The affected students subsequently submitted formal applications for scrutiny, maintaining that they were entitled to be declared successful in their BA/LLB examinations.

Under the prevailing rules and regulations, scrutiny is limited to recounting marks and checking the accuracy of their totaling. Re-evaluation of answer scripts does not fall within the scope of the scrutiny process.
