Vivienne Jolie becomes fourth child to drop Brad Pitt's surname after court approval
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt daughter Vivienne's surname change approved by California judge following her siblings

Vivienne, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has officially removed her father's surname, becoming the fourth of the former couple's six children to legally adopt the Jolie name.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, a California judge approved Vivienne's name change on Monday, November 2, without objections. She will now be known as Vivienne Marcheline Jolie rather than Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt.
She initially petitioned to remove Pitt from her surname in July, shortly after turning 18.
Vivienne had previously used the name Jolie professionally. In May 2024, she was credited as Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for Broadway production The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside her mother.
Her siblings Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh have also legally dropped Pitt from their surnames. Maddox's name change to Maddox Chivan Jolie became official on September 14, while Zahara's petition to become Zahara Marley Jolie was approved on September 28. Shiloh filed to remove her father's surname on her 18th birthday in 2024.
Jolie and Pitt share six children: Maddox, 25, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 18. The actors separated in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage, finalising their divorce in December 2024.
The children's surname changes come amid reports of limited communication between Pitt and his older children. A source previously told PEOPLE in September that "there's very little communication right now", describing the situation as "a tragedy".
Vivienne and her twin brother Knox were born in July 2008 and are the youngest of the six siblings.
