The identification parade of Umer Khalid, the suspect arrested for allegedly killing industrialist Rehan Ashraf during a vehicle snatching incident, has been completed at the District Jail Faisalabad.

The complainant, the victim's brother Hassan Ashraf, and two witnesses identified the suspect before a judge, police sources said.

The suspect will now be handed over to Sadar police on physical remand for interrogation after the court's formal order is received.

Police sources said Hassan Ashraf and the two witnesses, Amjad and Ikram, reached the district jail at 11am on November 2. Judge Mubashir Awan, appointed to oversee the identification parade, arrived at 11.30am.

Jail officials had arranged three rows, each comprising six suspects, for identification. Hassan Ashraf and the two witnesses identified Umer Khalid by placing their hands on his shoulder, saying he was the man who had allegedly killed Rehan Ashraf.

The witnesses maintained that the suspect had shot the industrialist dead while fleeing after snatching his vehicle and being pursued by the victim.

Meanwhile, the victim's family has taken custody of both vehicles seized by police.
