Muneeba Ali’s side register a comfortable 24-run win over team Champions

Muneeba Ali’s Warriors registered their third consecutive win the PCB Women’s Super-3 T20 Tournament as they beat Tuba Hassan’s Champions by 24 runs in the fifth match here at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad on Monday.

Chasing a target of 155 runs, Champions were dismissed for 130 in 19.2 overs with left-arm spinner Ayesha Bilal taking four for 15. Warriors have now won three matches on the trot and will face Incredibles in their fourth match on Tuesday.

Incredibles have lost all of their three matches and are out of the race for the final as the Champions have managed two wins out of their four matches and have secured the berth.

On Monday, Ayesha showcased her prowess with the ball as she cut through Champions’ batting by taking wickets of Saira Jabeen, Najiha Alvi and Tuba (18, 16b, 2x4s) at a time when the game would have easily tilted away. Ayesha later pinned no.10 Tayyaba Imdad leg-before to return figures of 4-0-15-4.

Warriors’ spinners Zunash Abdul Sattar and Rameen Shamim also contributed as the former picked up 2-27 with her leg-spin and the latter 1-17 including the wicket of the aggressive opener Komal Khan (18, 12b, 2x4s, 1x6).

Natalia Parvaiz (31, 27b, 2x4s, 1x6) and Shawaal Zulfiqar (22, 12b, 3x4s, 1x6) were the two other batters who showed some resistance, striking boundaries regularly but couldn’t convert their innings. Pacer Diana Baig picked up two wickets, while Humna Bilal dismissed Shawaal.

Earlier, Champions inserted Warriors in after winning the toss. No.4 Hafsa Khalid (47, 36b, 5x4s, 2x6s) and no.6 Rameen (29, 24b, 4x4s) rescued the Warriors’ innings with a 65-run stand after they were 66-4. Diana put the finishing touch towards the end as she contributed valuable 19 runs off 14 balls hitting two fours and one six.

For Champion, Tayyaba picked up two wickets, Tuba, Momina Riasat, Fatima Khan and Ayesha Rehman dismissed one batter each. Tuba had also run out Hafsa as Warriors posted 154-8 in 20 overs.
