Miley Cyrus is reportedly reconsidering the direction of her career, with an insider claiming that the singer is exploring a possible return to acting while deciding what she wants from her future.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the source said Cyrus was uncertain about her next steps following her recent musical projects and October performances at the Hollywood Bowl.

"She's struggling with what comes next," the insider said. "Miley is at a point in her life where she's really trying to figure out who she is and, more importantly, what she wants to be beyond just being Miley Cyrus, the celebrity."

The source also suggested that her latest music had not achieved the success she had hoped for. "Her new music hasn't really taken off the way she wanted," they said.

Cyrus released "Bass Persuades" in September before performing two sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl in October. The performances featured new material, familiar hits and a tribute to her late godmother, Dolly Parton.

According to the insider, Cyrus is considering acting as a way to demonstrate a different side of her abilities. "One thing she's been considering is getting back into acting, because she wants the opportunity to show people there's more to her than the Miley Cyrus persona they've known for years," the source said.

Her previous acting credits include The Last Song, LOL, So Undercover and the Black Mirror episode "Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too". However, the insider claimed that finding a suitable project has been difficult, adding that Cyrus wants a serious film or television role.

The singer has also spoken openly about prioritising her sobriety. In a May 2025 interview, she said, "The sobriety is like, that's like my God. I need it, I live for it. I mean that it's changed my entire life."

Cyrus previously explained that touring made maintaining her sobriety difficult, helping shape her reluctance to return to an extensive touring schedule.

The insider also suggested that Parton's death has been particularly difficult for Cyrus, as the country singer had been a source of advice and guidance throughout her life.
