Security forces targeted several Afghan border posts, mortar positions and installations after unprovoked firing from across the border on Pakistani positions in Angoor Adda, the deputy commissioner of South Waziristan Lower said on Sunday.
In a post on X, the deputy commissioner said that firing from the Afghan border posts targeting Pakistani border posts was continuing, prompting an immediate and effective response from Pakistani security forces.
He said the forces struck multiple Afghan positions, following which Afghan Taliban personnel were forced to abandon their posts and flee. He said that no casualties had so far been reported on the Pakistani side in the border areas, adding that Pakistani forces remained prepared to respond to any form of aggression.
Earlier on Thursday, the army had given a befitting reply to unprovoked firing by the Afghan Taliban along the border in the Angoor Adda area, forcing the Taliban personnel to abandon their posts and flee. Several personnel of the Afghan Taliban regime were killed during the operation.
