Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal’s 'All of Us Strangers' to stream for free on Channel 4
Based on Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel 'Strangers', 'All of Us Strangers' received widespread critical acclaim

Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal’s acclaimed romantic drama All of Us Strangers is set to become available to watch for free on Channel 4 in the UK.
The 2023 film, written and directed by Andrew Haigh, stars Scott as Adam, a lonely screenwriter living in a near-empty London tower block. His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets Harry, a mysterious neighbour played by Mescal.
As the pair begin a relationship, Adam finds himself drawn back to his childhood home, where he encounters his parents, played by Claire Foy and Jamie Bell, who appear to be alive and unchanged since the day they died 30 years earlier.
The film explores themes of love, grief, loneliness and the lasting impact of childhood experiences, blending a romantic relationship with a surreal story about reconnecting with the past.
Based on Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel Strangers, All of Us Strangers received widespread critical acclaim following its release. The film was nominated for six BAFTA awards and won seven British Independent Film Awards, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay.
Scott and Mescal’s performances were praised for their emotional depth, while Haigh’s direction was recognised for its intimate portrayal of grief and human connection.
The film also stars Foy and Bell as Adam’s parents, whose unexpected presence allows him to revisit memories and confront feelings he has carried since childhood.
The Channel 4 streaming release gives UK viewers another opportunity to watch the film, which has continued to attract attention since its cinema debut.
All of Us Strangers previously became available to stream on Disney+ in the UK in March 2024.
