The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Syndicate has approved five new PhD programmes, the establishment of a Regenerative Medicine Department and 1,100 additional seats in evening BS at 18 public-sector nursing colleges in Punjab

The approved PhD programmes will be offered in nursing, pharmacy, public health, oral biology and medical laboratory sciences.

The additional nursing seats were approved on the recommendations of the university's Affiliation Committee.

The members were told in a meeting that the regenerative medicine department would offer MPhil and PhD programmes to strengthen research.

The syndicate approved an increase in the marks for final-year MBBS Paediatrics from 200 to 300. Changes to clinical rotations were also approved, along with the inclusion of additional maternal and child health topics and field visits in the integrated MBBS curriculum.
