Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has described October 27 as a black day in Kashmir's history, marking the Indian forces' occupation of Jammu and Kashmir in 1947.

In his message on Kashmir Black Day, the governor said the Kashmiri people had continued their struggle for the right to self-determination for decades, enduring immense sacrifices and oppression.

He said the day reminded the world of the Kashmiris' unwavering struggle for freedom and the long history of Indian atrocities aimed at suppressing their aspirations and denying them their fundamental rights.

Kundi said occupied Jammu and Kashmir had remained a scene of oppression for decades, with extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, illegal arrests and widespread human rights violations reflecting what he described as Indian state repression.
