RAWALPINDI:

Police on Sunday claimed to have solved a staged robbery involving Rs18 million belonging to a private petrol pump in Wah Cantt, arresting the pump manager, an employee and an alleged accomplice, and recovering the entire amount.

According to police, petrol pump owner Mudassir Riaz reported that on October 20, manager Ali Hassan informed him by telephone that he had been on his way to a bank in Aslam Market to deposit Rs18m when two armed motorcyclists intercepted him on School Road and snatched the cash at gunpoint.

Police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the initial stages, suspicion fell on the petrol pump employees. Investigators subsequently pursued the case using technical evidence and human intelligence.

Further investigation allegedly revealed that Ali Hassan had conspired with a petrol pump employee and other accomplices to stage the robbery and misappropriate the money. The suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
