KARACHI:

Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has warned that strict action will be taken against those obstructing development projects in the city, asserting that no hurdles will be tolerated in Karachi's progress.

During a visit to inspect ongoing development work on Natha Khan Road, the mayor received a detailed briefing from the relevant officials and directed them to expedite construction work to reopen the road to traffic at the earliest.

He said the city's residents would soon receive good news regarding the reopening of the road, stressing that improving major arteries was essential to facilitating commuters and ensuring smoother traffic flow.

"We will not only put Karachi on the path of development but also deal strictly with those creating obstacles in development projects," Wahab said, adding that the time for obstructing progress was over.

The mayor said he would personally visit project sites and monitor development work to ensure timely completion, protect the city's interests and safeguard citizens' rights.

Emphasising the importance of on-ground monitoring, Wahab said officials issuing directives from air-conditioned offices often lacked a proper understanding of the city's actual needs and the difficulties faced by its residents. He stressed that officers and relevant authorities must visit project sites, assess the situation firsthand and take practical measures to resolve public issues.
